Aeren R 3D IMAX at Mani Square, Kolkata

Kolkata will get its first 3-dimensional (3D) Imax in January with 20 metre screen and 12,000 watt sound system.

According to Jim Patterson, director, Aeren R Entertainment, “Our aim is to offer differentiation to our consumers so that the concept becomes viable and successful. The cost of such domes range between $3 and $5 million per hall excluding land or rental cost, ticket prices will be kept reasonal. For instance, at Kolkata, tickets on an average will be priced at Rs 200.”

Imax intends to show around 10 movies in 3D in 2009 like Star Trek, Shrek, etc, where consumers can almost ‘get inside’ the movie.

It was supposed to open on 4rth December, but due to some problems they have postponed it to January 2009. Its located at ManiSquare, just beside Apollo on E.M.Bypass. Quite a nice place .

I went to IMAX in Mani square..to watch Space station 3D. It was just AMAZING!
Cinemax is having four screens, screen no.4 is IMAX.
Ticket price Rs.250 (one row at the top with very soft recliner seats) and Rs. 150 (rest of the seats in the Hall).
If you are watching first time at IMAX, try to watch a 3D movie and get a seat nearby the middle of top 4 rows.

Couple of days ago I watched T-Rex there..It was quite a nice experience…But the thing is I really should request them to try & bring better contemporary movies, rather than indulging into more documentry types..that way we can have the real enjoyment & thrill..I mean T-Rex was neither a documentry nor a movie kinda thing.. I was really dissapointed with the type of movies that are coming into Imax..they should really try hard to bring better movies..

these imax ppl are poor whenit comes to business.they opened the theater in 25 dec 2008.the only movie to be released on the day of its worldwide release was harry potter and the half blood prince.loved the experience, but then what happened?

many movies came like trasnsformer 2,christmas carol, cloudy with a chance of meatballs and the most recent ones, avatar and alice in wonderland.all came in hyderabad and mumbai but not in kolkata because of an irrantional reason, pricey print cost.theyopened in the time when all imax theaters were being converted into digital.they could have started with digital then we would not have to spends around 2000 rs just to see avatar in 3D at inox forum or south city.i did not expect this kind of service, and by the way.cinemax could have made the theaters in kolkata compatible with 3D.2D is becoming last gen.titans by warner is becoming the first hollywood movie to be fully released in 3D.so we need 3D theaters here.

if the twilight and new moon petition worked,we should make a petition stating more 3D theaters and current imax movies otherwise kolkata will always get movies around 3 to 4 months after its release.

you are dipanjan.someone need to tell them that nobody or very few are interested in imax movies which comes after two or three months after their release.cinemax could have made one scrren 3d but its ok there is the imax scrren in 3d.but these people do need to realise by this way the imax business in kolkata will not survive.thet need to bring the movies in their release dates along with hyderabad and mumbai.still they have time to convert the screen into a digital one.we kolkatans need to tell them about the problems.do you have any idea what should we do to inform our problems to them?????

IMAX opened on 25th dec (as far as i know) .. Cinemax is regular multiplex like Inox and Fame . Cinemax and IMAX are both at the same place .. like you get movie tickets from the same ‘box office’ and they have the same entrance .

    where are you from ?
